Wilkins VFC #3 is known as the ladder, or truck company of the Township of Wilkins, although the ladder companies of most volunteer departments today actually have what is known in the fire service as a Quint.  A Quint is a fire apparatus that serves two purposes, as a ladder, and as an engine.  The term "quint" is taken from the latin prefix for 5, meaning that it has 5 items that it provides.  Those 5 items are a pump, water tank, ground ladders, hose, and aerial device.
